Down the TBR Hole is a bookish meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story.
Down the TBR Hole 411Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change! It works like this:• Order on ascending date added.• Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.• Read the synopses of the books• Decide: Keep it or should it go?
We're back again with the segment known as Down the TBR Hole! Fasten your seatbelts, keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times, Once Upon a Time, I Read a Book and its owner is not responsible for any additions to your TBR list and is indemnified in any book buying that occurs as a result.
Scared to Death by Rachel Amphlett
I'm making an effort to step outside of my cute and cosy comfort zone and I kind of like the sound of Scared to Death. I mean, I used to love this sort of book but then I found my niche and got stuck in there. Oops. So I'm keeping this and diving in soon!
Secrets in Our Scars by Rebecca Trogner
I was sucked in for this cover, do y'all see this cover? The synopsis still sounds interesting so I'm going to keep this on my TBR and put it on my buy list.
Bonfire by Krysten Ritter
Because I excel at running from my past, I'm passing on this one and removing it from my TBR.
When Gargoyles Rise by Ashley C Harris
Normally I'm all for gargoyle books, but I don't even know what to do with this book. Just the synopsis is confusing me so I'm going to take this one off of my TBR.
Hullmetal Girls by Emily Skrutskie
I'm on the fence about this one, honestly, but I bought it, it's on my kindle, I'm going to read it because "say hey if you're gay", right? No, but really. This is supposed to have a lot of LGBT rep and I'm definitely here for that. We'll see how that goes. I'm keeping Hull Metal Girls.
Books I Removed 2
Books I Kept 3
Alright then! That wraps up this visit to the TBR Hole. Tell me, do you think I made any mistakes? Did I add to your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
Oh, and tomorrow's Manatee's TENTH birthday. AH! We're holding off the celebration until Friday and we're going to go to Sea World with a birthday button or whatever. Because I'm a dork.
Until next time, darling readers, have a happily ever after!

The Rule of Luck by Catherine Cerveny
Honestly, The Rule of Luck really does sound interesting, but I can't tell if it's based in space or on Earth or what. The synopsis itself confuses me! I really do hate being confused, so, I'm removing this from my TBR. But, who knows. Maybe one day, I'll stumble across it again and read it. I'm weird that way.
In Sight of Stars by Gae Polisner
I am all for mental health awareness, but I, unfortunately, cannot read books that can tip my balance because my world needs to be maintained for my mental health. I love that mental health is becoming more of a free topic in the book community and I wholeheartedly support this and I will shout about healthy literary representation until I am blue in the face, but I have to protect myself first. In Sight of Stars is being removed from my TBR list.
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
I do want to read Before We Were Yours sometime, but I'm so hesitant about how emotional I'll become while reading it. It's going to be an eventually one day read. I'll keep it on my TBR.
Hunted by Meagan Spooner
I know I've said I'm not much for fairy tale retellings but I love Beauty and the Beast. I'll give it a go. Besides, I love archery. Hunted is staying on my TBR.
A Grave Magic by Bilinda Sheehan
Vampires? Why do I keep adding vampires to my TBR? I haven't changed my opinion of them. So why do I keep doing this to my poor TBR?! Somebody host an intervention for me, please! This is leaving my TBR because it shouldn't be there in the first place. ARGH!

Welcome to my fourth posting of Stacking the Shelves! I'm finding my feet on this and I'm actually remembering books that are on my kindle, waiting for me. So this is helping me curb my bookshopping problems. I already have books that need reading, let's read those! yeah, right. Anyways, let's get this show on the road! Enjoy the peek at my romance books and don't judge me!
When You Dare by Lori Foster
The tougher they are, the harder they fall…
Professional mercenary Dare Macintosh lives by one hard-and-fast rule: business should never be personal. If a cause appeals to him and the price is right, he'll take the mission he's offered. But then the lovely Molly Alexander asks him to help her track down the men who'd had her kidnapped—and for the first time, Dare's tempted to combine work with pleasure.
Fiercely independent, Molly vows to trust no one until she's uncovered the truth. Could the enemy be her powerful estranged father? The ex-fiancé who still holds a grudge? Or the not-so-shy fan of her bestselling novels? As the danger heats up around them, the only anchor Molly has is Dare himself. But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all…

The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks
It’s been one year since ex-Navy SEAL Ethan Kelly last saw his wife Rachel alive. Overwhelmed by grief and guilt over his failures as a husband, Ethan shuts himself off from everything and everyone.
His brothers have tried to bring Ethan into the KGI fold, tried to break through the barriers he’s built around himself, but Ethan refuses to respond… until he receives anonymous information claiming Rachel is alive.
To save her, Ethan will have to dodge bullets, cross a jungle, and risk falling captive to a deadly drug cartel that threatens his own demise. And even if he succeeds, he’ll have to force Rachel to recover memories she can’t and doesn’t want to relive—the minute by minute terror of her darkest hour—for their love, and their lives, may depend on it.
Tidbit
I love Maya Banks' KGI series and I have plans to review the entire series, so be on the lookout for those. I bought the first three at a used bookstore maybe a decade ago and I was a goner for some guys named Kelly.

How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
So what if he's a bit older and usually regards a human female as dinner, not a dinner date? Yes, Roman Draganesti is a vampire, but a vampire who lost one of his fangs sinking his teeth into something he shouldn't have. Now he has one night to find a dentist before his natural healing abilities close the wound, leaving him a lop–sided eater for all eternity.
Things aren't going well for Shanna Whelan either...After witnessing a gruesome murder by the Russian mafia, she's next on their hit list. And her career as a dentist appears to be on a downward spiral because she's afraid of blood. When Roman rescues her from an assassination attempt, she wonders if she's found the one man who can keep her alive. Though the attraction between them is immediate and hot, can Shanna conquer her fear of blood to fix Roman's fang? And if she does, what will prevent Roman from using his fangs on her...
Tidbit
Is it bad that I'm just noticing that the title isn't Billionaire with a 'B'? Like I've said time and time again, I am not a fan of vampires and read a select few vampire books. Kerrelyn Sparks is one author whose vampires don't make me want to 'pull a Buffy'. They're amazing vamps and I adore them.

Denying him, she flees, struggling to forget his searing, possessive kiss.
>The Hunt is on…
She eludes him for five years, but he has finally chased her to ground and stolen her enchanted jewel, giving him absolute power over her. Now that she’s his for the taking, he intends to make her experience first-hand the agonizing, unending lust she subjected him to for half a decade.Yet when Nikolai realizes he wants far more than vengeance from Myst and frees her, will she come back to him?
Tidbit
When my ankle got chewed on in a dog attack and was on a "limited mobility" order, my mum went out and bought the first 11 books of the series at Books a Million and I read through them while my ankle wasn't weight-bearing. The addiction to this series hasn't faded. Nucking Futs Nix is my queen.

Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione
In a place where ecstasy can cost you your life . . .
She's a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure-but fears it will always be denied her. Until Tayla Mancuso lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life.
Two lovers will dare to risk all.
Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion. Not only is she his avowed enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people. Torn between his need for the truth and his quest to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable-and let Tayla possess him, body and soul . . .
Tidbit
Larissa Ione is my dark goddess and she is a pretty cool lady. I had absolutely no idea how to pronounce Eidolon's name and I was so frustrated so I tweeted her and asked how to pronounce it and she took the time to tell me, back when Twitter was a baby and it sucked with notifications and we used carrier pigeons. This is not your Great American Novel, I won't pretend it is. It is smutty, it is paranormal romance, there is weird demonic ish abounding and I love it.

Okay, that's six books from way back on my shelves, virtual and physical. I have both. I've started and stopped like 30 different books since I said goodbye to Zeus and I don't even know. But I'm diving back into the past for some books I know I love to get me through and you'll be meeting them in the reviews soon. Until next time, have a happily ever after.

Down the TBR Hole is a bookish meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story.
Down the TBR Hole 411
Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. It works like this:
• Order on ascending date added.
• Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
• Read the synopses of the books
• Decide: Keep it or should it go?
We're back again with Down the TBR Hole! I'm not sure how well this is going since I seem to be adding books at about the same rate I'm removing them, but hey, content is content and maybe I might just make a small dent if I keep at it, right?
Luck, Love & Lemon Pie by Amy E Reichert
I'll admit it, I was hungry when I added this book and I was craving lemon meringue pie (I still haven't completely mastered making it). I'm not a fan of gambling or the contemplation of infidelity, so I blame the hungry me. I do whatever my stomach tells me to when I can't feed it. I KNOW HOW BAD THAT SOUNDS! Anyways, I'm taking this one off my TBR and I'm also going to work on not surfing Goodreads when I'm hungry.
The Hideaway by Lauren K Denton
The Hideaway sounds like a book that will wring you of every emotion you ever thought of having. Which could be dangerous for my well-being so it's staying on my TBR list indefinitely but I want to read it so bad. Maybe when I'm in a better headspace, I'll go hunting for this one.
The Wings of Fire by Alma Alexander
I'm not sure how I feel about The Wings of Fire, I love that the synopsis talks about other members of the paranormal community besides vampires and werewolves and faeries (not that I don't love my fae and weres!) but it honestly sounds like another Mary Sue special and I cannot roll my eyes hard enough for that. For the Mary Sue feature alone, I'm taking it off my TBR but for the eclectic range of paranormal beings, I'm going to keep a sticky note of it in my notebook.
Hurricane Season by Lauren K Denton
Wow, I just noticed this is also by Ms Denton! I'm not keeping this one, just so many reasons I'm not touching on right now. Just no. Hard pass.
A Time to Kill by Jeanette Raleigh
I don't even know how this wound up on my TBR but I'm going to give it the boot today!
Song of the Sea Spirit by K.C. May
I have no real idea what kind of hallucinogens were used in the writing of this, but the synopsis is kind of trippy. I'm on the fence about this one. I think I'll keep it for now, but I might come back and remove it when my mood's more stable. To be honest, I'm still in the emotional rollercoaster of recovering from losing Z so eh this is fuzzy.
I'm going to close out this session with that. I just really want to read and I'm kicking myself for not starting at the beginning of the break for my premade posts. I'm fueled solely by ramen and coffee this week. Ta.

As always, clicking each book cover will take you to its Goodreads page and I'll give you the Goodreads synopsis with each book because I care about you and the books. I'm a total book pimp.
Bridget Boggs carries a lot of guilt over what happened to Alex Ross and his family. She had been good friends with the Ross boys until her greedy father lost part of the Ross family’s savings in a pyramid scheme. He went to jail, and Bridget and her family changed their names and went into hiding.
Bridget imagines that Alex and his brothers feel just as betrayed as she does by her father’s criminal acts. When she meets Alex again as a young hacker and the owner of White Hat Security, he has something more important to talk about than her father’s transgressions. A million dollars has been stolen from his company, and Alex needs Bridget’s help to track down the culprit.
Alex has certainly grown up since they last met. The man looks like a Greek god, and Bridget can’t help but be attracted to him. As she digs deeper into the theft from Ross Enterprises, Bridget doesn’t need any more distractions. This is a more dangerous job than either Bridget or Alex expected. The thief is willing to go to incredible lengths to evade the police, and the two amateur sleuths may find themselves caught in the crossfire.

I picked this one up when I saw that she was an Orlando-based author who was headed to the Space Coast Book Lovers Convention and Hacker Exposed looks interesting! I like supporting local, so hey, look, LOCALS SUPPORTING LOCALS. Y'all can expect to see this sometime in my future reviews!

I hope y'all enjoyed this trip into my book collection. I'm going to be speedreading my way through my TBR trying to catch up with my Goodreads Challenge because I can't believe it's almost April already!! Anyways! Let me know if we're book-twins or if I accidentally added to your TBR. I'll see y'all next time and until then, have a happily ever after!

Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik
A space princess on the run and a notorious outlaw soldier become unlikely allies in this imaginative, sexy space opera adventure—the first in an exciting science fiction trilogy.
In the far distant future, the universe is officially ruled by the Royal Consortium, but the High Councillors, the heads of the three High Houses, wield the true power. As the fifth of six children, Ada von Hasenberg has no authority; her only value to her High House is as a pawn in a political marriage. When her father arranges for her to wed a noble from House Rockhurst, a man she neither wants nor loves, Ada seizes control of her own destiny. The spirited princess flees before the betrothal ceremony and disappears among the stars.
Ada eluded her father’s forces for two years, but now her luck has run out. To ensure she cannot escape again, the fiery princess is thrown into a prison cell with Marcus Loch. Known as the Devil of Fornax Zero, Loch is rumored to have killed his entire chain of command during the Fornax Rebellion, and the Consortium wants his head.
When the ship returning them to Earth is attacked by a battle cruiser from rival House Rockhurst, Ada realizes that if her jilted fiancé captures her, she’ll become a political prisoner and a liability to her House. Her only hope is to strike a deal with the dangerous fugitive: a fortune if he helps her escape.
But when you make a deal with an irresistibly attractive Devil, you may lose more than you bargained for . . .

That's right, folks! I'm stepping out of my normal repertoire and diving into a space opera. I actually do love sci-fi as much as I love fantasy, I'm just really picky about my sci-fi. It has to be well-written or, well, I'll be a spoiled brat and complain about it for months. Kind of like the Q stories on Star Trek, annoying nonsense that's there and we're forced to endure the existence of them but we don't acknowledge them because they're horrible and they shouldn't exist.
Last of Her Name by Jessica Khoury
Sixteen years ago, rebellion swept the galaxy known as the Belt of Jewels. Every member of the royal family was murdered--down to their youngest child, Princess Anya--and the Union government rose in its place. But Stacia doesn't think much about politics. She spends her days half-wild, rambling her father's vineyard with her closest friends, Clio and Pol.
That all changes the day a Union ship appears in town, carrying the leader of the Belt himself, the Direktor Eminent. The Direktor claims that Princess Anya is alive, and that Stacia's sleepy village is a den of empire loyalists, intent on hiding her. When Stacia is identified as the lost princess, her provincial home explodes into a nightmare.
Pol smuggles her away to a hidden escape ship in the chaos, leaving Clio in the hands of the Union. With everything she knows threading away into stars, Stacia sets her heart on a single mission. She will find and rescue Clio, even with the whole galaxy on her trail.

I was sold on this book when I saw it described as Anastasia in Space. Um, yes, please?! Sign me up! And that is how I came to be the owner of a digital copy of Last of Her Name. Because I've been total Anastasia trash for decades.
Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto
I had a sister, once…
In a world ruled by fierce warrior queens, a grand empire was built upon the backs of Phoenix Riders—legendary heroes who soared through the sky on wings of fire—until a war between two sisters ripped it all apart.
I promised her the throne would not come between us.
Sixteen years later, Veronyka is a war orphan who dreams of becoming a Phoenix Rider from the stories of old. After a shocking betrayal from her controlling sister, Veronyka strikes out alone to find the Riders—even if that means disguising herself as a boy to join their ranks.
But it is a fact of life that one must kill or be killed. Rule or be ruled.
Just as Veronyka finally feels like she belongs, her sister turns up and reveals a tangled web of lies between them that will change everything. And meanwhile, the new empire has learned of the Riders’ return and intends to destroy them once and for all.
Sometimes the title of queen is given. Sometimes it must be taken.

I'm in love with this book. The synopsis. The cover. The premise. Just bury me because I am dead. I bought a copy myself, but I also received an autographed copy in the post and I'm still not sure how it came into my possession. I blame all the new medications. I'm having a lot of books showing up in the post that I don't remember requesting or entering giveaways for. I mean, I'm not complaining but, one day, I'm going to die under a stack of books that have mysteriously shown up in my post box.
